If you discard your existing kitchen cabinets and appliances during a remodel, you could be throwing away free money. Steve Feldman,president of Green Demolitions with locations in the tri-state area,touted that his company recycled more than 600kitchens last year. Aside from the environmental benefit of reducing landfill waste, and forest resources required to build new cabinets, donors can see an added “green benefit”of nearly $10,000 in credit on their income taxes.As a non-profit organization with all funds after operating expenses benefiting chemical dependence recovery and outreach programs, Feldman explains that the above figures represent accepted IRS tax-deduction figures, but could benefit from an even greater deduction. Once a kitchen is sold, a statement is mailed with the selling price, and that number represents the total deduction.remodel.
The company has recently expanded their tax deduction program to include bathrooms, home decor, lighting and architectural elements.
