For the Love of Grace
Details, luxury define this European-inspired spa bathroom.
While the shoemaker’s children may go without shoes, this luxury bathroom created by kitchen and bath designer Ken Kelly is proof that he puts his trade to practice for his family. You see, Ken designed this bathroom in accordance to the dreams of his wife, Grace, after they were inspired during a visit to the spa at George V, a Four Seasons Hotel in Paris.
As the owner of Kitchen Designs by Ken Kelly in Williston Park, Ken had a edge to begin this bathroom renovation: He is already an award-winning designer. Adding to his accolades, this French-inspired creation recently took home a prestigious award in the National Kitchen & Bath Association Design Competition.
Of course, planning and vision are the first steps of a successful renovation “In the before version of this space, the bath was much smaller. There was a hallway and closets where the tub is now.We captured the space of the hall and those closets, and we also were able to remove a false ceiling and open this space up so the ceiling height is now 9-feet,” said Kelly.

The bathroom makes up part of a much larger master suite. In addition to the tub area, it features dual sinks and vanities, a private alcove that contains the toilet, hamper and supply cabinetry, and a wall of custom cabinetry with a generous rack and pull-out drawer space for clothes. Cabinetry is from the Bentwood French Country collection and is painted a washed pale blue with cream accents. Of particular note is the shelving behind the tub, which Ken staggered to allow for greater functionality. The candles are real wax, but contain lights that are adjustable via a remote control. That remote also controls the hidden television behind the mirror, additional lighting, music and a strip of chromatherapy LED lights installed under the tub’s edge.
Tying the design together is custom marble on the walls with strip-molding accents, and a marble basket weave mosaic 40 TODAY’S RENOVATION- SPRING/SUMMER 2011 www.TodaysRenovation.com pattern on the floor.

Additional attention to detail can be seen in the marble mosaic sink backsplashes where wall mounted faucets are centered above matching vessel sinks.
Last, the frameless-glass shower employs a series of 10 body-jets, a 16-inch showerhead, a handheld body washer and steam therapy to bring the elegance of a four-star Parisian spa into the home of this lucky Long Island couple.

Beautiful, thats how you stay in business, put out good stuff, whether you be a cook, a roofer, painter, just put out good stuff! That is how it was told to me,just like that!
I don’t know which decade or century in Europe inspired this bathroom.
We all gave up this sort of stuff back in the 80′s, its all wetrooms and infinity baths at the top end now
Hi, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam feedback? If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can recommend? I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any support is very much appreciated.
