Custom Curb Appeal
Imagine High-quality windows and doors that are built locally and to a higher standard.
Did you know there is a high-end window and door manufacturer right here on Long Island? If you didn’t, you are not alone. But that’s a message George Efthymiou, president of Bayshore-based Royal Windows and Doors would like to spread.
“We offer windows on par with Pella, Andersen, and Marvin,” says Efthymiou. “We are relatively small, so we can control quality and best practices. We don’t distribute, so everything we make, we sell for a particular job. But we don’t do builder-quality windows, the low-end type for spec homes.”
Among the products Royal is gaining recognition for are the 100-percent maintenance-free line of windows, constructed from high-quality UPVC (a type of high-strength vinyl). In addition to the ownership benefits of this type of construction, these windows meet energy efficiency standards and are available as double-hungs, casements, picture windows and a variety of architectural styles, including bays and bows.
“A few years ago, people wanted to change their windows to improve the look of their homes. Now it’s all about energy efficiency,” said Efthymiou.
Once the windows are in place, builders and architects (as well as homeowners) looking to improve curb appeal are finding good value in the installation of a new front entry door. The line from Royal, available in steel or fiberglass, again is totally custom. “We build each order to the specs of the job,” says Efthymiou.
On the exterior, the doors have a wood grain texture for low maintenance, and are fully insulated to save energy loss. Literally hundreds of combinations are possible, from glass designs to sidelights and transoms to the hinge style and sill material. Additionally, the doors are pre-finished on both sides, which allows a complete door removal and installation to be completed in a single day.
